MDC SA to hold first congress
JOHANNESBURG - The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) is bracing
for its first congress in South Africa amid worsening tribal clashes between the MDC
rebel faction group and the continuously growing rival faction led by veteran politician Morgan Tsvangirai.
MDC interim Deputy Organising Secretary for the South Africa province, Rodgers Mudarikwa, said preparations were at an advanced stage with 300 delegates from the 12 branches in the country expected to attend.
"We have also invited some friendly diplomatic missions based in South Africa
and some non-governmental organisations (NGOs), the media and church leaders, who support the rule of law and fight for democratic values in Zimbabwe," said Mudarikwa.
Veteran MDC activist and Zimbabwe Political Victims Association (ZIPOVA) Welfare Officer, Joshua-Mambo Rusere, said the current interim executive was mobilising both people and resources for Zimbabweans living in the diaspora.
"One thing that must not be ignored is that more than three million Zimbabweans live in South Africa, and they need to have a voice in what is happening in their country,"he said.
The main issue at the moment was to prevent division and concentrate on unifying the
people of Zimbabwe in the fight against the Mugabe dictatorship. - CAJ News
