SAFM broadcasts adaptation of Johannesburg author's book

Taung Wells, a novel by Martin Koboekae from Johannesburg has been adapted into a radio play for SAFM. The twenty-two episodes will be broadcast on Mondays to Thursdays at 19h45.

Taung Wells may also be prescribed for schools by some provinces next year. Koboekae’s two plays “Bush Tale” and “Third Coming” have also been adapted for SAFM. Bush Tale is an hour-long radio play and will be broadcast in December while twenty four episodes of

Sabata Mokae of the Mail & Guardian described it "Written with the accuracy of a historian and the dramatic detail of a playwright."

Another of his plays' "Third Coming" was also aired early this year by the Western Cape based Bush Radio. Adrienne Sichel of the Star described it: "A cultural satire. Koboekae’s writing flirts with parody as it jettisons didacticism for witty word play."
